#23 - Laura Beth CHARLOTTE

It's getting to be more difficult for mom to knit.  Don't know why, but it just is...

Laura Beth Charlotte Smith
the grandaughter of:
Audrey Charlotte Walmsley
the grandaughter of:
Charlotte Mary Smith

When you complain about your name Laura, be grateful we didn't throw Mary in there ok?!  So many strengths that these 3 women share.  Determination.  Compassion.  Generosity.

oh, mom.. if you could see her now!  you would be so amazed, so proud.

Em and  Laura (and Smiley) at last years "Walk for Memories".  Laura finds it really hard to see you now. But she does what she can...

Smiley with her 'blue scarf'

Laura and all of your grandchildren wish that they had had YOU longer.  The you that was quick, funny, smart, inventive...the list goes on.  They all miss YOU, they all love you.

#24 Luke and Emily

Lucas Aaron Smith
first born grandchild

So very cherished from the moment they held each other.

slightly spoiled as well!
Edmonton Oilers?   must have been on sale at Sears!

Beach Time - so special!

And then came Emily less than 2 years later...

Luke and Emily really did win the Nana Prize.  They had her at her best.  They had her to themselves.  She did things with these two that she didn't do with the other grandkids.  Don't know why.  They have so many memories of who their Nana was.
Time warp.....

Mom, look at Luke!

Last year Luke came to see you and brought with him someone very special.  You would love this girl!  She weeded your sandy patch on the beach before she knew it was yours.

They came to show you something special.  Something bright and sparkly ;)  And then this year they had a party.  They wish you could have been there.
oh, and mom... this girl?
she knits

and Emily...

It appears that she makes you as happy now, as you used to make her when she was little.

She got a sparkly thing too.  In Disneyland.  The Happiest Place on Earth.

Jordon flew in without her knowing.  Grabbed her beside the Castle......   and.....

she said YES!

He treats her like gold.  He is funny.  He is kind.  You would really love him.  He has met you, and he loves you.

and this scarf?

is soft.  even before it started!  Even though she can't see it or say it.  I somehow know that mom understands.  Beauty?  For sure in the eyes of the beholder.  Do you look at something and see what it can become?  Do you look at a child and see their faults, or do you see their potential?  Is this a ball of yarn?  Or is it a scarf?
When mom shuts her eyes, I wonder if her mind can still show her things that were.....   I wonder what she sees in the silence.  Does Alzheimer's blind you?  Does it free you?  I'd like to know, but I don't want to learn it 1st hand.  I don't want to have Alzheimer's

and AD?
Luke and Emily would like their Nana back.  Please.
